We’re excited to announce that we’ll once again be partners with Southern California Grantmakers (SCG) for their annual conference, which will be an opportunity to look at the latest policy analysis and research and to prepare for and address relevant public policy issues impacting Southern California. This year’s theme of “California Counts” will engage participants in a discussion about the impact of the 2020 Census, higher education policy changes, and the implications of the new federal tax law on California.
A number of Budget Center staff will speak at the conference, including Executive Director Chris Hoene on the latest from California’s state budget debate, Senior Policy Analyst Kristin Schumacher on policies that can advance gender justice, and Senior Policy Analyst Sara Kimberlin on policy strategies for addressing poverty.
The conference will include keynote presentations by:
- The Honorable Alex Padilla California Secretary of State
- Ashley Swearengin, President and CEO, Central Valley Community Foundation
- Dr. Timothy P. White, Chancellor of the California State University
This event is open to all members of the Philanthropy California partner organizations: Southern California Grantmakers, Northern California Grantmakers, and San Diego Grantmakers. Unaffiliated grantmakers are also welcome.
The hashtag for this event will be: #SCGPolicyCon18
