The Justice Studies Department at San Jose State University hosted the Spring 2015 Ann Lucas Lecture Series in Law and Justice Date on March 11, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The lecture featured a conversation with Hadar Aviram on her published book Cheap on Crime: Recession-Era Politics and the Transformation of American Punishment (UC Press, Berkeley 2015). Speakers included Hadar Aviram, professor of law, University of California, Hastings College of the Law; Jay Borchert, Ph.D. candidate, University of Michigan and visiting scholar, University of California, Berkeley; and Selena Teji, policy analyst, California Budget & Policy Center. The event was followed by an informal reception with light refreshments. The event was open to students, faculty, and the broader community.
