SACRAMENTO – The California Budget & Policy Center, a nonpartisan public policy research group, released the following statement from Executive Director Chris Hoene in response to the LAO fiscal outlook released today:
“The new long-term forecast from the Legislative Analyst’s Office shows that California’s leaders could choose to invest in broadening economic opportunity and security. This is especially key given the millions of Californians in communities across the state who continue to be left behind in the growing economy. Boosting support for critical public programs and services not only helps ensure that more Californians share in the state’s current gains, it also lays the groundwork for sustained economic growth.”
The Budget Center will release additional commentary and analysis in the coming days and weeks. You can keep up with all the latest on our website, calbudgetcenter.org.
